Asked on 19 April 2022 by Qesar. Answered by Dan Powell. This engine uses a timing belt. I'd suggest changing it every 60,000 miles or five years (whichever comes first). If you don't have any history paperwork for the car then I'd assume it hasn't been done. Tags: timing belt timing chain.

Ford Focus MK2 - Timing belt - to change or not change? - John F : The 1.6 Zetec sturdy cambelt drives nothing but cams and a tensioner pulley and was designed to last the life of the engine. Ford advise 10yrs/100,000m change interval as a precautionary.

There's not transmission oil change interval, but if you want to do it, it's 75w Fe transmission oil. 1.7litres. there is a drain and refill/level plug. The level plug is a bit awkward to get at. I use a bit of hose slightly smaller diameter to garden hose with a funnel on the end to pour the fluid in.
I'm on my second Mk2.5 (the Mk2.5 was made from 2008 to 2011) 1.6Tdci and my driving pattern (75% motorway, 25% urban) results in a yearly average of 62mpg. To put that into perspective due to rush-hour traffic volumes my motorway speeds are a maximum of about 60-65mph and the urban parts 30mph or less.
