HOMM 3 had some great features which should have been better implemented(the "Might" and "Magic" dichotomy for heroes could have been done much better. Some of the hero types in some towns/factions do not make a lot of sense and some units and unit upgrades also make no sense such as Cyclops(replacing trolls) as the boulder throwing units.
for windows version everything works as expected. tcp ip game. Either host or join. game. If you're using hamachi no need for port forwarding. other option would be real life LAN. in my experience trying to play game between two remote computers without hamachi doesn't work.
